Sports Overview
Cricket Team 4T2016 Girls Football Team

Great Finborough CEVC Primary School is committed to providing good quality sports provision for its children. We aim to ensure that the children enjoy a range of different sports, and regularly invite sports professionals in to our school to provide tuition, both as part of the curriculum and as extra-curricular opportunities. As part of our Year 4-6 curriculum, we also provide sports tuition at a variety of other venues including Finborough Private School, Pipers Vale Gymnastic Centre and Battisford & District Cricket Club.

We believe that competition in Sport is important, and the children build on their achievements in school by competing in a number of Intra-school & Inter-school tournaments. All children also have access to an annual school sport festival and our older pupils participate in an annual inter-school sports festival against local primary schools which is organised by the Stowmarket School Sport Partnership.

Our PE and Sport Leader is Mrs Tapia (Class Teacher).

BMX Athlete Visit – June 2016

In June, we welcomed Mike Mullen, a champion BMX rider to the school. During a whole school assembly, Mike shared his story and background as a champion BMX rider and then also performed a few tricks outside in the playground afterwards. This was followed by 3 practical BMX taster workshops outside for Year’s 5 and 6. It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by all the children, a truly inspiring experience!

Paralympic Athlete Visit – March 2016

We welcomed GB Paralympic Footballer Roy Turnham to the school. One of the newer members of the Football 5-a-side team, Roy made his Paralympic debut in London 2012 and was part of the team that finished in 7th place. Roy led a sponsored fitness circuit with all the pupils and finished with a talk, and a question and answer session. The children have been raising money as part of the visit and it will be used to buy sports equipment for the school, whilst also supporting GB athletes (including Paralympic athletes). It was a really exciting morning, enjoyed by all!
