We squeezed to emulate the oesophagus muscle squeezing into the ‘stomach’ (sandwich bag)

Then we added ‘stomach acid’ (green liquid)

When we had churned it up to a state where it would have moved into the small intestine, we added ‘bile’ (red liquid) from the pancreas

We poured the contents into the ‘intestines’ (stocking)

We saw how the liquid came out of the sides in the same way as nutrients going in to the bloodstream. We tried squeezing it to see how more liquid would come out representing water reabsorbed into the body, and understood that what was left was the faeces.
